The problem with questions like this is that the answer depends
very much on what you want to do. In other words, you need to
define what you mean by "good".

Foe a good basic do most things okay mainly on the road or easy
tracks bike for a reasonable price and no dumb gimmicks, I'd say
yes, they look okay to me. Also have a look at similar offerings
from, amongst others, Dawes and Kona.

If you want to go screamingly fast, up and down daft things,
recline in maximum comfort etc. you can do better. And you can pay
a lot more for the privilege too!

There are certainly some models in the range which are OK; there's a
Nexus-geared one which Jon Senior has reported favourably on (Ridgeback
Nemesis) which would make an excellent urban utility/commuter bike, if
you added mudguards.

I don't know anything about the Rapide range, but if you're interested in
the Rapide Speed I can recommend the Claud Butler Classic, which is a
similar bike at a similar price point which I know to be well made.

I have just bought one of these this week, and a very nice bike it is
too. The riding position needs a little more adjustment to my tastes
(seems very upright and `forward'😉 but otherwise I am exceptionally
pleased 🙂

I agree about the riding position. I've been fiddling with mine with
the help of the LBS, and now that they've raised the saddle, moved it
forward a bit and done something cunning with the handlebars it feel
like a new bike!
