  1. I was just looking at some low diet recipes, and I came across this
woman's blog, mostly what she cooks, and eats.

    http://gorgeoustown.typepad.com/lex_culinaria/recipes_sweet_food/index.html

In on of her blog post she said that she is on "low carb". I would
like to know if her recipes are for people on diet.

    No, it's not even close.

If you plan on following a low carb way of life I would strongly suggest you
get a good low carb book and read it so you understand what low carb is all
    about.

I have borrowed two books from public library; Low carb 1-2-3 by
Rozanne Gold, and Low Carb Vegetarian by Celia Brooks Brown. This is
why, I was surprise that she was on "low carb" with suga, fatty stuff,
    and MSG.

Try reading Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution or Protein Power by Dr. Michael
Eades. The fat is fine, the sugar and flour aren't.
There's also a huge amount of information in the ASDLC FAQ.

Low carb 123 is a good cookbook, but as Jeri says, you really would benefit
by one of the books that deals specifically with the low-carb lifestyle,
including broader topics like how to lose weight, how to maintain weight
loss, and how to control diabetes, etc.

1- I will second the nomination of either Dr. Atkins New Diet
Revolution or Protein Power Life Plan by Drs Michael & Mary Dan Eades.

2- Fat is good on LC. Both Eades and Atkins suggest that doing a low
fat version of their diet is a bad idea.

3- Sugar. Bad. Except in small doses. You have to eat to your "meter."
You won't find your meter eating a lot. Gotta get it all out, then you
can figure your meter from zero. Best way.

4- MSG. I am LC and I cook with MSG. Here's some discussion from Mike
Eades blog about MSG. It's what convinced me I could use it. I like
the difference (I made side by side versions of my all purpose Powder
Keg Chile Rub, and the MSG version is undefineably better).

    Good luck.

  7. The recipes are not even close to LC. They look like std cake and
dessert recipes. But then I don't see anywhere that they are
    represented to be LC either.

  8. More proof you can't believe everything you read. Unfortunately, a lot of
people don't understand what low carb is although they claim to be on it.

Heck no, they are just regular full-sugar (sweet food) recipes. This must be
    a troll.

I have two books I can recommend. One is Living Low-Carb by Fran
McCullough and the other is the South Beach Diet by Arthur Agatston,
M.D. The South Beach Diet is not as low carb as Atkins but you may
find it easier to follow. Both books I have mentioned have a section
on recipes. All low carb diets feature recipes without sugar or white
flour....that should be your first clue.
