http://youhealyourself.com/consensus/part4.htm I was reading this website,
and it says that most vitamins are totally useless and provide very little
of anything.
Is this true? Am I just throwing away my money buying vitamins?

Depends.
Yes ... it depends on from whom you buy them.

If you happen to be deficient in any one vitamin then a multivit will
be the single best investment you have ever made in your entire life.
It does help if you buy the very expensive kind that absorb well but
even the rock hard caps will probably help if you are deficient.
If you are truly a model of vitamin and mineral perfection through
your normal diet then you probably are wasting your money. If you
have enough magnesium in your system it isn't like multiplying it by 5
will make you 5 times healthier.
There probably are a few vitamins or minerals here and there where
supraphysiological doses can be helpful [1] but even in those cases it
is often to cure some disease and not to make an otherwise healthy
person even healthier.
Fix me up if I'm wrong MFWites.

Some of us (i.e., me) believe that optimal health and optimal longevity
require supplementation of numerous micro- and macro-nutrients.
Thousands of cites are available at www.lef.org which, although it is in the
supplement selling business, provides mostly cites to university type
studies.
And since when do you invite MFWites to correct you? Taking the "humble" a
bit far, no?
