  1. Apparently I have a name now according to the Mad Jack Fuller article;

    it's "up pots of tea"

I assume the Dave Kahn photo is from LEL; it hasn't been shorts weather
    this year

Ah, I wouldn't have recognised you from that angle.

Count yourself lucky, though. By the time I reached that point, the
caption would have read: "El Supremo apologises for lack of tea due to
    boiler failure."

How come all you lot keep getting your pictures in Arrivee and I don't

Ha ha, you fool! You've fallen victim to one of the classic blunders!
The most famous is "Never get involved in a land war in Asia"

    It's from last year's National 400.

Who is this "you lot"? I don't believe I have ever appeared in Arrivee.

Neither have I (well, not a photo anyway.)

Messrs. Kahn and M, and one or two other who aren't in here but are
always having their pictures. In it.

Help me, Mrs. Medleycott, I don't know what to do. I've only got three
bullets and there's four of Mötley Crüe.

    d.

I have not appeared in Arrivee with my name in the label. A few years
ago the Brecon Beacons Brevet took place in terrible conditions. Most
people did not finish. At the first checkpoint they wrote the order
in which we arrived down. As I left the control I passed another
rider. Thirty metres up the road photos were taken. The next
Arrivee had a picture of almost everyone who finished plus the person
    I passed but not me.

I have been pictured many times since. The trick is to be known to
the photographer. He then favours your picture. The other way is to
have an interesting bike. Mike Hunting & Linda johnson's
pushmepullyou recumbent tandom got into arrivee the first time a
    photographer saw it.

That explains the lack of Mr. Larrington then.

Every pic I have sent to Arrivee has been published..
It is a question of being in the right place at the right time, and
having a decent shot from that event. If a photographer takes 20-30
pics at an event, they will not all be sent, nor all be printed.
Pictures with detailed captions tend to be favoured over those without,
for an equivalent quality of picture.

There are also some overrepresented areas/rides because they are a)
popular and b) have a keen photographer around. It would be good to
have som emore, scenic pictures rather than the usual pictures that get
in because it is X on a bike.. But that is with my photographers hat
    on.

That and the fact the photographer is standing on the hill that Mr.
    Larrington avoids.

I forward this message on behalf of Mr Malins, who can't post to usenet
    from work:
"Messrs Larrington and Series are to be found on the AUK website which
reaches many more viewers than the paper copy, when the miserable
    bu**er who
was out on the Severn Across in 2003 snapped me then completely ignored
    my
AUK top in favour of more important people"

    I'm saying nothing.

not the Denmead one I rode?

BTW the Fleet Moss pic is very inspiring; looking forward to similar
    conditions there next month.

I have not been in either. There are some nice pics of me on the AUK
    website now though

I see that members (I assume, unless it recognises organisers'
passwords) can now post photos direct
