  1. I did Atkins 2 years ago and lost 32 pounds in 3 months. I decided to give
it a try again and went to the website to see if anything related to
    Induction has changed.

I'm confused because when I look at the rules of induction on their site it
states no bread, grains, etc. YET when you look at their example of a meal
plan "while on Indiction", it includes Atkins brand bread, cereal, muffins,
trail mix bar, low carb pudding, among other things.

    I'm confused.

In any case, I like the original Induction I'm familiar with from 2004---
more limited, easier to follow, and certainly cheaper because you don't need
to buy all these Atkins products!

Anyone familiar with a change with the original induction? and this
difference in their rules vs. the "meal plan"?

Where did you read this? Please cite the source URL; it sounds like
internet lore. I just went to www.atkins.com (Atkins Nutritional website)
and they say the same thing about induction that Dr. Atkins said for years.
This is a quote from the website:
" Weight loss is significant during Induction. Each day 20 grams of Net
Carbs (total carb grams less fiber grams) primarily from salad and other
    non-starchy vegetables, are allowed. "

Nothing at all is mentioned about eating artificial [censored].

You didn't read far enough on their site obviously, don't lash out at
me...... Here is the link from the atkins site stating an "Two Week
Induction Meal Plan" which uses Atkins products such as waffles, muffins,
    bread, etc.

    http://www.atkins.com/articles/atkins-phases/phase-one/two-week-induction-meal-plan/?searchterm=induction

This is right from their site and is totally against what their Rules for
    Induction states. Please enlighten me.

That's really odd! I'd not looked at this site before, just read the
book. It looks as tho' the link to the [censored] foods was an add-on to the
original plan. Perhaps money changed hands in order to get it in there
    ya think?

Atkins Nutritionals isn't as controlled by the Atkins family as it was
    several years ago.

Atkins Nutritionals is now stockholder owned, and they make money by
    selling these products....

I don't know who owns or cntrols the Atkins Foundation - which used to
be dedicated to encouraging and doing research.

Just standard American business now- they make money from selling products.

In his book, Atkins said that you could do the diet without needing
these special packaged foods, but for convenience, they were available.

You are dong the right thing to avoid the expensive LC packed foods
    approach.

And, many of these packaged foods don't taste very good either. I
bought a lot of the bakery stuff on closeout sale as well as a whole
    bunch of the "shakes".

I threw it all out in disgust.

Save your money, do what you did before.

    1) Eat Till SATISFIED, Not STUFFED... Atkins repeated 9 times in the book
    2) Exercise: It's Non-Negotiable..... Chapter 22 title, Atkins book
    3) Don't Diet Without Supplimental Nutrients... Chapter 23 title, Atkins
    book
    4) A sensible eating plan, and follow it. (Atkins, Self Made or Other)

Ignore it. The new ownership wants to make money selling you stuff. As you
already now, you don't need that stuff to lose weight on Atkins or any LC
    plan.

Yes, follow what you know and have proven works for you!

Yes. It's all about profit motive now. You don't *need* any of those low
carb products to lose weight. Simple, boring meals work best.

Good on you for seeing things as they are.

Why did you quit? This is important because to be able to keep it off
forever you need to stay on some type of plan forever. If you can
learn a lesson from a time you quit then your efforts back then were
    not in vein.

    I'm confused.

    1) They are in the business of selling products so they ignore what
    is actually in the plan.

    2) If you look carefully in the recipes section of the 1993/1999/2002
editions you'll find Induction menus that include grain products.
Clearly the person who wrote those menus wasn't Dr A and/or Dr A
didn't proofread that section and/or his rules are looser than they
    seem in the chapter.

Being conservative about how the plan starts, and knowing that the
plan includes gradually moving up to find your own limits so a
conservative start nver effects your final plan, I vote for Dr A not
    being
the author of the recipes and not proof-reading them.
