Must admit the last few weeks ive driven 250 mile round trips to do
some long rides in aid of the huge influx of MV posts, it really made
    me feel better!

Hmmm...maybe if my filters weren't working so well I'd be riding more!

I'm curious to what everyone's average driving distance is to their local
trails. The reason I am curious is I have to drive close to 20 miles to the
closest legal trail system. When I lived in Germany I could open the garage
door ride about a hundred yards and find trails in almost any direction to
ride. I'm finding that the ritual of loading everything I need for a ride
(bike, pump, tools, dry clothes) and driving the 20-30 minutes is causing me
to ride less and less. To ride a kick ass trail it's an even longer drive.
If I ever buy any property it will be saturated with trails...I hate the
drive!! When I ride I want to ride....not drive and ride.

It's a 35-40 minute ride for me to the nearest trails. I figure the extra riding helps with my fitness 🙂.

Trails that are further away can generally be reached by catching the train most of the way then riding from the station.

I would say about 40 minutes...since I'm new into this, all three state
parks I can think of are about equidistant... one of the downfalls of
    being in central OH.

Check this website out for OH info: http://www.spokejunkies.com

woot! thanks for the site JD! I knew about Alum Creek, but not the
others... though it would make sense - driving 30 min. from downtown
columbus and you're in the middle of cornfields and cows... 😄

The SJs are a pretty cool group. Their fearless leader is a good
friend and he's put a lot into what started out as a little. A true
    advocate of the sport.

I usually ride from my house. Maybe once every few weeks I'll drive
20-30 Miles for Crested Butte trails, a couple times a summer I'll drive
40 Miles for the Monarch area stuff, and once or twice a year I'll drive
somewhere like Fruita or Grand Junction (125 Miles).

I'm pretty fortunate with trail proximity.

Totally fortunate, except for the COLD Winter there. This past Winter
was pretty good for me, riding almost every day and often from the
casa. The trails aren't as good, but the wheels are still spinning.

That's when I'm either skiing (Nordic from the house of by bike, but
Alpine/Tele requires driving 30 or 40 Miles) or driving over to GJ.
    Works for me...

I've got a some trails about 4 blocks from my front door. Nothing too
technical, but they connect up to a pretty good river valley trail
system. In the valley, there are several good spots for single track.
For an urban locale, it is actually pretty good. I'm in Alberta,
Canada, so if the river valley stuff is too tame (and with the number of
downhillers running the trails, I think there is at least a little
something for everyone) there is tons of great rides within a reasonable
drive (not nec. an after work run, but if you have a day for riding,
    whooo-eeeee!)
