Dude/Dudinette: Would jasmine rice be wrong?

I don't see why, it's really good. I don't think its inherent flavor
is strong enough to clash with or kill the saffron taste.

    Re the white wine, I've
some riesling - does that qualify, or should I really get a sauvignon
    blanc?

A su gusto. I find some rieslings too sweet but I wouldn't make a
special trip to the store just to get a sauvignon blanc.

I've got the saffron soaking ‹ I used all I had from an
    about-7-year-old-jar ‹ maybe a half teaspoon.

    I think that'll be plenty.

I'm thinking about stirring in some frozen peas when it's almost done.
Whaddaya think about that? Would mushrooms be wrong?

I like to stir in peas to rice dishes. I usually season them and zap
them for a couple of minutes first. If adding mushrooms similarly I
would sauté them in butter first.

Hope the dish turns out to be worth the effort you're making.... -aem

Heh - not much effort here - just questions. I just got back from the
supermarket and decided to pass on the sauvignon blanc I was going to
fetch. I'll see what other white I've got -- I know I've got dry
vermouth. Forgot about picking up mushrooms at the store - no big deal
there. I think I'll stir the peas in frozen.
    Pictures at 11:00 ;-)
    Muchísimas gracias, misterioso aem.
