Oh, I've climbed Snowdon, so does that mean I've bagged all the summits in
Wales?
In fact, I've been up in an aeroplane too, so can I claim Everest as well?
IMO there's not much point having your head above the summit if you're at
different x,y coordinates, but I suppose if you're close enough it might
count. Am not familiar with the situation you're talking about so I can't
comment on that, but I certainly wouldn't claim Corn Du on the basis of
standing on top of Pen y Fan.
I believe SOTA have a rule of 25 metres from the top - which is too far
away for my round my rules as Richard said. On very pointy tops, iIf I
can touch the top with my hand and my head is above the summit, that'll
do me - and I suspect most others. On flat (or tussocky) tops where it
is difficult to be sure exactly where the top is I am satisfied by
criss-crossing a couple of times that I have done it. After all, in most
cases, the accomplishment is gaining the other 2999+ feet.
