Wow that's great, thanks. Any idea how it performed, weight & specs, durability, comfort, stiffness, vibration dampening, etc?

I'm not sure, beyond what's in the article. Calfee's pretty obssesive about performance, and being one of the top carbon frame builders out there, you've got to assume stiffness and dampening characteristics are a priority of his.

The co-worker of mine who rides a Calfee has visited the the guy at his workshop many times, and he's actually talked to her about his bamboo experiments -- apparently, it really is a quirky passion of his, making bamboo work.

If I can find anything else out about his bamboo bikes, I'll let you know. I'm fairly sure he's still making them on a special order basis; you may consider emailing Craig directly. I bet he'd share some info about them at least... if not try to sell you one!

That Calfee bamboo bike is stunning, absolutely gorgeous... I never would have thought of the bamboo-bike possibilities.

There's a bike shop in Christiania in Denmark that have developed a bamboo bike as well. Their aim is to produce a simple bike for basic transport needs that can be produced with a minimum of metal parts for easy assembly in countries with a lot of bamboo.
