I smiled at the first inquiry , imagining a donut on a
handlebar. I laughed just now thinking of a dozen assorted
on each side of a handlebar.

Casual donutting, of course.

OK, yes the question is light-hearted, but it is a real
question - all the bar-ends I've seen seem to be curved -
but I recall seeing straight bar-ends back around '95 or so.
If I could get one and put it near the middle of the
handlebar, as well as a handle-bar mounted mug holder, then
I could stop by the coffee cart half a mile from work and
cruise into work with a nice cup of coffee and a donut on a
peg. (and at half the cost of the cafeteria!)

so who still makes and who sells straight bar-ends?

You can't figure out anyway to carry a donut other than on
your bike?

I see straight ones for sale all over the place. Since
you're only using it as a donut holder Performance has them
for $19.99, straight and carbon. Impress your co-workers
with a carbon fiber donut holder!

I think I've seen them for sale at Wal Mart. However, all
the straight bar-ends I've seen have been just a little too
thick to hang a donut on.

Dear Chalo,

To the dedicated professional, there can be no such thing as
"casual recreational" doughnutting.

As for the strange notion of a doughnut peg, why do you
people think that we are drawn with three fingers and a
thumb on each hand? It is no coincidence that the best
doughnuts come eight to a box. Why do you think Jobst Brandt
is so concerned about riding no-hands?

Are you familiar with the Minoura "Space Grip"? minoura.jpaccOpen ↗

Not shown in the pictures is the capability for the bar to
be turned ninety degrees, perpendicular to your
handlebars. This would permit you to stack doughnuts
vertically, if you wanted.

I think you'll find the Space Grip to be a well made accessory-
not cheap and flimsy.

Check with your LDS to get the doughnut hole measurement
spec and tolerance, to confirm compatibility.
