In a fit of spending (I needed a new helmet) I purchased a set of bar end shifters for my tri bars earlier. Shame I have no idea how to fit them or know what model they are other than being Shimano and being 8/9 speed compatible.
Anything is better than the crappy grip shifters that are on my tri bars at the moment. Can anyone point me to a web page detailing how to fit the buggers...?

In theory they're Dura Ace levers, but they were the only 9-speed bar-cons Shimano made. They'll shift 8-speed cassettes with an old (7400 series) Dura Ace derailleur, or 9-speed cassettes with just about any other Shimano rear derailleur.

I've got an 8 speed 105 front and rear derailleurs, I just assumed they'd be compatible...
they all look the same, but Shimano have made 7 speeds 8 speeds 8 speeds for Dura Ace ie with 9 speed spacing, rd 7400 rq'd for 8 speed 9 speeds 10 speeds
If you've got a 9 speed version you'll want to clamp the cable on the 'wrong' side of the clampbolt for your 8 speed setup, unless you can find a 8 speed DA derailleur

On the other hand, you could upgrade to 9-speed with just a new cassette and chain...
and rear hub, unless you're saying that all 8 speed hubs take 9 speed cassettes...?
