It didn't look like Basso was looking back to contest it. It's like OK, you
gave me the stage yesterday so you can have this one today. Armstrong was
determined to win the sprint anyway but it looked like Basso didn't contest
it. This is quite common in the Tour over the years. Numerous cases like
this over the years.

Humm, If you had ever been in a similar position it would not be amazing at
all. There was nothing to dip into. he did what he needed to do and
spent his reserves getting the distance. Both rode a hell of a race with the
help of the US Postal team.

I sort of agree, but I think Basso did win yesterday and that Lance was at
his limit. Basso looked fresher yesterday and today, so I think Basso did
let him go today, without really knowing whether Lance could have won
yestarday. Besides, it does seem fair since the 2 of them had the most to
gain by working together each day and Basso already got his stage. It was
more likely a gift today whereas yesterday it would not have been known that
the favor could be returned today.

This is all starting to get unbelievably complicated.

I suppose the same could have been said about Bosso in stage 12. I'm
impressed by Basso, but he looked tired today, and Lance looked very
fresh.

Yesterday Basso looked really good, relaxed. There was a point where
he looked behind in such a way (very relaxed, without a care), that
when I saw it I thought he would win. Today, OTOH, Basso looked to be
suffering more than Lance. So I think the stronger rider won each
day.
