    but the Southern people dying at Gettysburg were fighting out of
    patriotism harnassed to the benefit of the big slave-dependent businesses.

    You can pretend a war isn't about economic interests if you wave enough
    flags.

    No, Om you are right. Lincoln had this new weapon - a Gatling gun that he
    was keen to try out in a war - just to see how well it worked in combat
    conditions. So he invented the slavery issue to get the South to get [censored]
    and start the civil war. France was too far away and he couldn't be bothered
    with Canada. It wasn;t slavery that was the issue you are right
