trusty Berghaus jacket.
Thanks Ted

Thanks TedI had a Berghaus for about 5 years, took it back to the shop where I bought
it to ask them about getting the zip replaced. They took my name and phone
No and said they would get back to me. A few days later they phoned and told
me to come and pick a new jacket !
This was several years ago in Clive Rowlands shop in Inverness.
So I suggest you take it back to the shop and ask them, may be well worth
it.--

Anyone doing competent repairs or alterations should be fine.
When the zip went on my rather expensive motorcycle jacket,
similar to a walking jacket but with kevlar body armour sown into
it, it was replaced by my mum, she's always made clothes,
curtains etc. and said doing a zip would be a doddle! She unpicked the stitching and removed the old zip and replaced
it with a new one that she got from one of our local dressmaking
shops, as far as I can tell the zip is identical if not slightly
better than the original. Her only concern was that the thickness
of the jacket material might be too much for her home sowing
machine, fortunately it wasn't, she just had to take her time. That was three or four years ago now and both the jacket and
replacement zip are doing fine.--
