I suppose I'm thinking of the sort of situation where I need to warn a
pedestrian in traffic of my presence. The Air Zound sounds very
effective, but I didn't want to get it if it's considered the cycling
equivalent of an offensive weapon! :-)

Get it. You'll never regret it. A brief tap on the button will give an
only reasonably loud report. Hold the button down and the dead will
come rushing out of every graveyard in a five mile radius...

Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op have them, as do Wiggle.

If you have a Lumicycle battery a 12v 3.5Amp Klaxon is the answer. Mine is
wired up with a push switch from Maplin.

road bike, although the klaxon horn is plastic and it weighs very little. I

some margin. The Air Zound claims up to 115Db; I think the maximum
allowable for a car is 100Db, but I can't find the Construction and Use
regulations on the net.

They're here http://www.opsi.gov.uk/stat.htm but they've been amended
lots of times.
