An Officer and a Gentleman is my all-time favorite - great cast,
excellent story, action, drama, romance, humor, martial arts, exotic
locales, AND a motorcycle!

Future: I'm looking forward to Transporter 2. The first Transporter was
kickass.

I think I'd have to choose them by "favorite per category":

Best Sci-fi: The Last Starfighter followed closely by the first "Dune".
Finally just watch "Alien Vs. Predator" and it really was pretty good.
:-) The Terminator series are also favorites.

Comedies: "Mask" followed by "Evolution".

Action: The original Triple X. The sequal sucked IMHO.

Dramas: "Ghost" and "Seven Years In Tibet".

Old Movies: "The Great Escape" and "Auntie Mame"

Japanime: "Legend of the Overfiend" series.

I have a rather large movie collection. They are pretty much the only
thing I collect anymore, and there really are a very great range of
titles.

I have the original on VHS; it's the very first videotape I ever
bought. I now have the director's cut on DVD, too.

It's great sci-fi; it's classic film noir; and it addresses issues that
are a lot deeper than one would expect to find in the usual
sci-fi/action flick.

What did you think of "Gladiator"?
I thought it was probably one of the very best movies made in the past
few years! I'd forgotten about it or I'd have included it in my lists.

In terms of ancient heroes, I'm hoping that Vin Diesel turns in a good
performance as Hannibal Barca. He really does have some decent acting
ability, but a lot depends on the script and the director.

Recently, Minority Report. I would list the Matrix, but I have trouble
thinking about it without letting all the dumb hype and second and third
[censored] movies into my thoughts. And the Time Machine. I tend to like
Sci-Fi that deals with the future.
