today's wet-weather reminder: foot at the 6 o'clock position = saturated sock in 3.2 seconds... must put booties back on the 'wanted' list.

was good to see a surprising number of cyclists unperturbed by the moistness...

I had a great ride in. I don't know why but I actually like commuting in the wet; maybe I'm delusional but I reckon I'm having way more fun on a bike in the wet than I'd have if I'd taken the train or <shudder> the car.

Great ride that is till I stopped and got off. WHERE ARE MY FEET???? Couldn't feel them. Took a couple of seconds to realise that they were indeed still attached to my body and that they were doing performing their intended function.

Strange how I didn't notice my feet were cold until I stopped. I think neoprene booties are in my future.

i only really like riding in the rain if offroad or in tropical conditions

Snowing on Mt Macedon/Dandenongs apparently...

I thought it was pretty cold (but dry, well except for the fog at
Rocklea) in Brissie this morning... when I got to uni I checked UQ
weather and at 0720 it was still only 11.2 deg C!

Only thing that bugs me is having to clean the bike when I get home. Well the drive train and brakes at the very least anyway.

Having said that I'll probably just blast the drivetrain with WD40 when i get home and save the proper clean for the weekend when I'm fitting the new 32h wheels (woohoo!) - No more weighty 36h [censored] for me...

I've taken to checking my bike late at night, last thing before bed...
that way I know if I need to get up early to fix a flat.

It was a bit average this morning riding the 18k to work this morning.
Soaked to the bone. The worst part is going to be putting all that wet
gear on tonight for the return journey home.

We have a washing machine and tumble drier at work, so I usually pop my
gear in for a wash and it's all clean and nice smelling for the trip home.

flat tyres always go down overnight, or go bang/hiss while you're still pedalling. Never inbetween.

Even though I hold & caress my Specialised Stumpjumer MTB, my commuter Apollo ss MTB gets the bare minimum attention to allow for forward movement. :o
