  1. Tonight we had David's birthday party (his birthday is Sunday)
For his cake I covered the bottom of a 9x13 with sliced pound cake, then
covered that with hulled strawberries, sliced red plums and raspberries.
Sprinkled spiced vanilla sugar and melted butter over that and baked at 400
    for 30 minutes.

Covered the whole thing with zabaglione (that I accidentally overcooked, but
no one noticed). It turned out really nicely and was a nice non-traditional
    birthday cake.

The cake sounds really rich... and delicious 😉 I might just have to try it
    or something similar.

Yummy! Does the top stay gooey or did it develop a little bit of
    crust to it?

I'd like to do more with pound cake. I've got an orange pound cake
that I make in a bread pan, then slice it into layers, ice it with
orange icing, and then drizzle on a chocolate ganache. Sometimes
if I'm lazy, we just slice it and eat without any of the extras.

The zabaglione was overcooked so it got pretty stiff pretty fast. If I were
serving this at home and not at a bowling alley I would have dished it up and
spooned the zabaglione on at the time of service.

yeah and deal with a barrage of "ugh! who would eat that thing?!??! it's not
glossy and beautiful like the pictures in cookbooks!!! Couldn't you have them
adjust the lights in the bowling alley to be more like sunlight?"

you'll just have to assume it was lovely 😉

ROFL! Now I'm scared to post pics of my ravioli and antipasti dinner and
    tiramisu dessert....

I try never to assume, but I'll make an exception this time!
