Bl**dy printer - CD mapping again

Our Epson 460 printer refuses to co-operate for printing maps - its
playing up for Anquet, Tracklogs, get a map and multi map.

Someone suggested putting to pdf before printing - this allowed a good
print of Anquet but Tracklogs is resolute in its intentions to drive us
up the wall in frustration.

Anyone any ideas on how to sort - fairly convince its our printer -
I've sent the tracklogs pdf file to ANOther to see if they can print.

Fingers crossed.

Are you using the latest drivers? Check their web site to find out.

We've got the latest drivers - downloaded yesterday.

I suspect its rest in peace time for the printer - its 5 years old and
wasn't a good spec to start.

Someone suggested printing to pdf and then printing.

This works for our Anquet demo.

However, possible due to size (tracklogs pdf is 4 meg for 1 page)
tracklogs pdf and printer do not make a good combination.

The tracklogs makes the printer get in a right tizz and subsequently
any other prints are subject to playing up until we switch everything
off and start again.

How old is that printer?
I have abandoned, (well almost), my Epsom, which is very greedy on ink,
and had begun to leave thin blank strips on letters, etc.

I bought a HP PSC2355 printer/scanner/copier, and it is the bees knees,
for Tracklogs maps, photos etc. £149.99, but well worth it.

I have a real cheaper HP 3650 and it give perfect prints in Anquet. Only
problem is the cartridges are dear. However I use Jettec refills that give
OK'ish results - can be messy if you overfil the cartridges. If you're
printing lots of maps, might be best to go for printers that are economical
rather then pin point accruracy.

While we're onto suggesting printers, i just bought a Canon Pixma 4000, for
a shade over £100 from ebuyer.
It's really cheap to run, prints both sides of the paper automatically
(handy for route descriptions or an extra map), has a second input so u can
print on 2 different paper types (waterproof perhaps??) with no hassle.
Prints CDs too! Oh, and the photos are superb.

You might just sense i am quite chuffed with the purchase, which with me and
PC purchases is a rarity.
Oh yes, and it prints maps a treat from tracklogs (and memory map) with
excellent quality output.

Just seen your post - and by coincidence Dennis is just about to head
out the door to buy a Canon Pixma 4000 - he wants it and he wants it
now!

Me, I get to do the washing!

You can't go wrong with it! I kept finding extra features for the first
couple of weeks.
Like the second media tray, i pulled something out, wondering what it was,
bonus!

I use a bog standard hp deskjet845c to print Anquet - it works fine,
but only if the 'print mode' option is set to Alternative rather than
Standard.

inks.

If you can keep your head when all around are losing theirs...
then you've failed to grasp some important aspect of the
situation.
