Hmmm, what will I wear? It's so hard being a metrosexual cyclist. So
much lycra, so few rides in a day.

I'm going to park my bike at work around the corner first, so I won't
even have that (sweet Ti Airborne Black Widow MTB with blue bits) or my
helmet in Swedish colours.

I know ... I'll be the one winning first prize in the random draw!!

I'll be the one with a bright red nose due to my fscking cold, and a
huge upper Donald Duck lip from teh fscking cold sore that is
developing there... *grrrrr*

But there is NOTHING better than a free breakfast, so despite my
even-worse-than-usual appearance, I'll be in the queue for my
"miscellaneous bbq'ed things" brekkie...

Donga will be easy to spot - he'll be lane-splitting the brekkie
queue... *grins*

Blue/white fade Sorenson fixie, red/white stripe bag, green/yellow/red
stripe bartape. That enough colours for you?

Most likely in the company of a white or black Peugeot fixie.

OK, that's helps find your bike, but not you, unless you're going to wheel it around with you while in the brekky queue. Anyhow just look for the bloke with the big [censored] scab on his top lip, and I'll be with him (sorry Abby) 🙂

Abby and me and about a thousand others! OK that's an exaggeration but yeah it was a good turnout. I was a bit late getting to work but I bribed the boss with a free juice and fruit 🙂

btw If anyone is interested as part of Bike Week there is an Intro to Road Racing course on saturday am at Nundah crit track.

Naah, I reckon you're close, there was a hell of a lot of riders, and
judging from the ones who just rode to work as usual and didn't join
the bunches or come to KGS, it could have been a lot bigger.

On the pollie front, good to see Ronan ride in from Indro, thumbs down
to Kevin Rudd who only waved us off from Morningside and didn't ride.
Whatshername who destroyed her knee (playing netball, not on a fixie!)
rode in on one of the councils electric bikes.

I wouldn't want to ride in like that every day though, took me 4x as
long with the lower speeds (this was the 'fast roady' bunch too) and no
lane-splitting which meant getting stuck in traffic.

mmmm coffee, juice, fruit...

Special mention goes out to Nathan (to quote Tam, 'you don't know
Nathan'😉, who left the gold coast at 4am, arrived at KGS at 7, then
left at 830 to ride home again and go to work. Champion

Yes thanks, did quite well, although I would have had to fight the

I was never a rower at school in Brisbane. The choice was rowing or cricket. I chose cricket. Younger brother rowed. Blue and red.

Mate at UQ had a single scull (he rowed at school in green black and white). I mucked about a bit in his scull.

Looks like my daughters will be rowers (in Perth). The older one has been rowing at her school and the younger one will be going to that school next year. A work colleague was an outposted AIS women's rowing coach and was involved in their talent spotting program. When the girls were littlies, he looked at them and pronounced that they would make good rowers. Who knows.

There are a few dads' crews at the school which compete in a bit of a competition against dads' crews from some of the other schools. Somewhere in an incident that involved beer, a barbecue, beer and beer, I seem to have been invited to get into a boat. Hmmmm. And it is alleged, your honour, that I agreed. And I wasn't invited to be the cox, I can assure you.

Good move Steve. It is hugely addictive, but very frustrating unless
the whole crew, including cox and coach, hums. We found ourselves
training 9 sessions a week including weights, just to race 4s and 8s in
3rd grade. Our highlight was to win the 3rd grade country men's 8 in
Mannum, SA. We rocked! My good mate decided to row lightweight in
intervarsity and I tried to go with him. This involved losing about
5kgs and it was that or keep drinking beer. Guess what won! So it
sounds like you will get on just fine. It was hard to keep a crew
together. I recruited one guy who took to it like a duck to water, left
for the first eight and ended up rowing Kings Cup. [censored]. Have fun!

The youngest brother got together with his old crew for a few seasons after he left school rowing, to compete in the Qld state titles. They trained twice a week in a borrowed 8 (a few leisurely 1000m spins then on to the pub for the rest of the evening). The lazy buggers won the State title in the 2nd grade 8s. That's a fair few years ago and the boys are now scattered around Australia. The brother is in southern NSW working on his vineyard these days.

Its even addictive for parents. I can remember my dad loading boats onto a boat trailer and driving it from Brisbane to Sydney for the blue and red boys to row in a regatta there. The dads on that trip even got on the water too -rowed under the team name of "Jerry Haddrick's 8"

So many sporting activities to indulge in, and employment keeps getting in the way. Bugger.
