  1. I am gratified to note that in the new Bond James Bond film, there is a
sequence wherein a Baddie drives a tanker truck through a bendybus, with
    hilarious consequences.

This is the best use that anyone has found for these things to date, and I
look forward to seeing this trend continue ;-)

Just the lastest in a long series of bendy bus fireballs:

Insulting and untrue. For most of the past 15 years my parents would have
been doing quite well to even afford a bike.

It is A Joke[1]. Complaints should be addressed to the Kipper Family, as it
was from one of their albums that I stole it.

I must admit that I'm a little disappointed that the post wasn't about 007
making a successful getaway from S.M.E.R.S.H. (?) on a Brompton during the
    London rush hour...

I don't think I've ever seen a film in which the goody on a bicycle
escapes from the baddy in a car. I've seen lots in which the goody on
a motorbike escapes from the baddy in a car, but oddly enough, the
escape always happens by dint of somethnig extremely unlikely after a
harrowing chse, such as the bike just squeezing past a tanker
reversing into the road. What never seems to happen is the most likely
scenario, which is simply that the bike rapidly escapes from the car
without the slightest effort, simply by drifting past queues of cars
    which another car can't overtake.

I'd like to see a film in which a splendid getaway is made by a gang
of urban bank robbing cyclists dropping off into the alternative
network of cyclepaths, which not only is impassable to cars, but which
is uncharted territory to most car drivers, not least because it's not
shown on the maps you can buy in garages. Cue the young detective
whose wife is a keen cyclist, who knows you can get cycle path maps in
cycle shops. A squad cars roar off to the nearest cycle shop, but is
held up by knocking down an old geezer on a recumbent. SMIDSY
apologies all round. Fortunately the old geezer is unhurt.
Unfortunately the cycle shop is shut because it's the second Tuesday
past the full moon. Fortunately the public spirited old geezer is able
to offer the police his own map of the cycle paths.

Let's have some social realism for a change, and an end to to these
dangerous Hollywood cars which explode violently whenever they hit
    anything!

"Stormbreaker", based on the Antony Horowitz book of the same name.
From what I recall, our hero gives chase to the baddies as the speed
away in a motor, whilst he's on his Specialized. Lots of taking "bike
only" short cuts, leaping things, skidding rear wheels.
And then he beats the baddies up, using skills passed onto him by his
now dead uncle, played by Ewan McGregor.

"Malcolm" (I think), set in Melbourne, where our heros (the baddies I
guess) rob a bank using radio controlled model cars, remote controlled
rubbish bins and make their escape in a mock up tram.

I watched a terrible Jean-Claude Van Damme film last night in which
everything exploded much too much - I was surprised the wooden actors
    didn't catch fire.

I wasn't objecting to the frequency with which things exploded, rather
the lack of realism when they did go bang - definitely a case of "never
mind the quality, feel the width".

Going seriously OT - did anybody see the "making of" where they were
trying to roll the Aston by driving it over a ramp only to find it was
rather good at four wheels on the road?

In the hilariously dreadful Hong-Kong chopsocky extravaganza
"Fist Power!" (no, really - http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0277289/)
the protagonist is at one point pursuing evildoers across the centre of Hong
Kong. He encounters what appears to be a criterium race, but observance of
Precept 2 of Hong Kong film making (Everyone Is A Ninja) required the field
to drop their bikes and attack him. After dispatching these no-marks, he
uses one of their steeds to give chase to the car-driving baddies holding his nephew
hostage (in accordance with Precept 1 of Hong Kong filmmaking) and catches
    them up.

So, it happens, just not in good films. Alas, I have no stills of the scene
in question as I *really* don't want to type "Fist Power" into Google Image
    Search.

Steve Coogan's "The Parole Officer", whereby the goodies engineer a
critical mass to block the car traffic and enable their escape on bikes,
    Italian Job style.

Of course, the fact that you have not seen it but I have probably
reflects more badly on me than you 🙂

There is one where the 'broke' stockbroker in New York becomes a
bicycle courier. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name. My cycling
group had a pub night to watch it. It was good fun especially the
sequence where the chain climbed the rear cluster as the hero
accelerated. 🙂 I think a couple of us fell off our chairs.

Peter Mayle has a good book where a bunch French bank robbers turn
themselves into a cycling team. The training of a bunch of robbers to
be riders is hilarious. And the getaway is good, especially when the
American cyclist decides to draft the team 🙂 It would make a good
    movie.

Wasn't there one where he escaped on a recumbent in Amsterdam? Or am I
    thinking of someone else?

According to Google he escaped on a bike in Project A, which I haven't seen.
