  1. I finally got myself a pair of size 13 boots - a pair of new style british combats.

Been wearing them for a few days now and guess what? The welts are coming unstuck from the uppers
:-( Seems to be limited to the inside of the boot where (where the arch of your foot would be).

The soles are OK, but the welts are coming unstuck.

    Any advice or fixes?

    cheers

Take them back and exchange for another pair.

Well, just an update, took them back to get a refund, guy in the shop refused, and was going to
issue a credit note, I spoke to the manager who said I could hold onto the boots until he got more
stock in, then he will do a swap.....

Is there anything I can get which would protect the welts from becoming unstuck on the new pair?
Some kind of seal sealer or something?

    regards

If you are prepared to wait then fair enough, otherwise my normal course of action would be to
invoke the Sale of Goods Act, and reject them as not being of merchantable quality. Put it in
writing if necessary, copied to Trading Standards if no acceptable remedy is offered.

Well, if the new boots fail in the same way I'll insist on a refund. I'm not wanting to make too
much of a fuss as it is a good shop and I have bought quite a lot of stuff from them.

He should be getting more stock in the next few days or so, and he'll give me a phone call when the
new boots arrive, so hopefully they will be in for me to collect next week.

I'll let you know how things progress.
