  1. If I buy a crankset now that uses the square tapered ends, will I have difficulty finding a replacement BB?

Is the trend moving towards the octalink & splined ends? I don't want to make a purchase that I will have to scrap whenever I need to replace the BB!

  2. What brand of crank?

Certainly the trend has been towards splined BB's, and that will continue. But there are still a heck of a lot of square taper BB's and cranks in use, and I'm sure it'll be a long time before they're no longer available.

Then why not go with an ISIS BB and be done with it? The price point isn't that different.

    Shimano 105.

  6. FWIW: I picked up a new RaceFace Next crank for my MTB for $140 - it was for square spindle. ISIS model was another $120.

And no problem finding a BB for it.

Dou can go square, but splined is significantly better. As long as Campy is doing square, you should have not problems finding them.
