Phil Cook said:Anybody up for an expeditionette? I'll be staying in Manchester over
Christmas and fancy a walk on Boxing Day. I also fancy going to the
pub afterwards so that will entail a campsite handy for a pub. I was
thinking of the site at Capel Curig much used by this group before.
Any takers?
I shall be there already Phil. I always go up for a few days between
Christmas and New Year. Tends to be the day after Boxing Day for me, but
then I often stay over New Year itself, which can be great fun in Capel
Curig.
In Capel Curig I tend to camp now at Bryn Tyrch, which is further up the
road towards the shops - signposted as bunkhouse but has a lovely campsite
in it.
Last year the ground was frozen so hard I was forced to cross over the pass
to Nant Peris - often the frost in more gentle here because of the effect of
the sea. Had a very bad experience at the Vaynol Arms and have vowed never
to go back ...
