Did I see Jaywoo as I was coming down Donna this morning? Not sure if I was halucinating, thought I heard a g'day ess...if it was sorry I didn't give ya a more gleeful reply, too damn frozen.

I'd love to know what the temp reading was at the top, I wear my HRM on my wrist, so can't get a reliable reading.

Would love to attend one day as a newbie to a road bike, My bike is getting
its first service since I bought it and won't get it back until monday. How
hard is this ride for a newbie like myself?

You mean I have to ride up that Doncaster hill to meet you guys before the
ride even starts??? I haven't been game enough yet to try and ride up
Doncaster Rd, I live near the freeway enrance (down the hill)

I'm tempted to show (and ride!), my main concern is my lack of hill work
tho, so you better mean it when you say "Newbies welcome" :P I do have
monday off however, so hopefully that will give me enough time to

D'oh! I only put a sedate 10km on my clock today, and am going to
rest completely tomorrow. Maybe by Monday, I'll be fit enough to walk

It's usually triple ring for me up there, but I've been told off, so
IIRC, I had been using the middle ring last couple of weeks.

I don't have a triple on my OCR Zero, to put my hill riding into perspective
I struggled riding up Greythorn Rd and I am sure Doncaster Rd is much
harder. I have only tried it once though and on the same day attempted to
ride up that big hill on warragal rd (from Burwood Hwy) after I got lost
looking for Whitehorse Rd to drop off a DVD at Blockbuster (yeah I was a
long way off). I didn't make it up the hill, my legs were stuffed.

I'll get my bike back on Monday (without the squeak) and I should start to
get more serious into my cycling and build up the kilometres and get more
used to the clipless pedals.

Do I have to join a club somewhere to ride in the BR in the future?

Yes you need to join the BR club. Membership fees have never been
discussed before but I think a chocolate muffin for each rider at Smiths
Gully would suffice. 😉

- Myself, Daveb, A5h, Ess, FD
- Ess double backed to the fruit shop early on for more climbing, crazy!
- Lots of other roadies out on the Kangaroo ground climb
- Rob Roy car hill climb on today, some traffic on Clintons Rd!
- Lama vs Kangaroo, came within 1m of the big [censored] at 50km/h, close call!
- Head wind TTT (well, ITT) section.
- Busting for a pee up Burgundy st, kept in in 🙂
- Some dumb [censored] in a car wanted to overtake me on the downhill 'hairpin' on
the boulie, almost pushing his way past me in his car-o-[censored].. I yelled
at him to get the f*#k behind me and wait until AFTER the corner.. while it
may have been sweet justice seeing him cross the double white lines and
plough into someone coming the other way, I didnt want to have to hang
around to help clean up... I waved him though after the corner and gave him
a friendly wave.. next time I'll get some white gloves and a whistle if I
have to direct traffic like that..

All up, a great days riding! How'd you pull up after your first BR a5h?

You can add
- Dutchy trying to do a Robbie, ducking into a sidelane, alas his plan was foiled
- The poor standard at the bakery today, although the pineapple muffin wasn't bad!
- Nearly squashing a fat lizard at 45km/hr at the crit circuit (start of the sweeper)
Also I thought you weren't allowed to climb well on a debut BR? Top effort Ash!

That it was🙂 We had already been up & down once. We were heading up again to try and get warm. After the 1st 'down' we ended up headed back to a cafe in Warbuton where we were all too scared to pick up our coffee for fear of the uncontrollable shivering causing it to spill all over one's self🙁 We only went up to Cement crk(?) & back a few times after that.

I might be able to tell you if I could figure out my shiny new S725. I've got no probs seeing the temperature details (from today) when it's still in the watch. But do you think I can find it via the S.ware from Saturday's data? Noooo😕
