Am over in Taiwan right now doing product development, and yesterday went for a Muni ride north of Taipei. Basically we grabbed a bus and headed north out of town with a bit of advice from a Taipei MTB site. It's always cool to go riding in a new place and we headed up into a forest into the drizzle, amongst jungle and Bhuddist temples. Anyway, we rode for a few hours and then came back through a small town for a meal. Not knowing the language we went into a small shop and mimed "feed me"=). The server brought out some tasty bowls of soup, which was great as we were feeling a bit dehydrated, and we started eating. Mid way through we started noticing what we were eating- most definately brains. I have no idea what species, but now I can say that brains are actually very tasty =).
Wow, cool trail, reminds me of a few places at Mt. doug. Of course it is rock at mt doug and not logs. In any case the logs give it a very tropical look, very cool ! P.s Was it slippery ? thanks bry
I'm guessing that because of the language difficulty, you also mimed something like "Do you understand", and the waiter took that as "brains please". :-)
I ate chilled monkey brains right out of the skull like in indiana jones. they where good but would have been better hot. and to everybody who is gonna all be like " go away all you ever say is CHUUUCCCKKK NOOOORISSSSSS" just give it a rest this time. kris holm probably isnt all [censored] at me because i like a martial artist. so like there you go. kris will back me on this one.
Hey Kris, that's great! I was just talking to Roger last weekend at Mondo about riding in Taiwan. Told him how cool it looked the many times I've flown over. That is so cool you guys are there today and actually riding!!
Yummy! you gotta get me the recipe for that!!! lol
Anyways the course your on looks like a rolling trials set-up, I should make something like that in my backyard, be nice to just walk about 50 feet and have your own rolling trials course awaiting for you =p

if people are interested I can provide a recipe for lamb's brain moroccan style: that's awesome! now your story reminds me of another one: My dad was a geologist who sometime lived on the rough in far away countries, but, as a frenchman, he had always a wonderful table open to guests. So one day there came a bunch of american geologists who were hungry (and thirsty: this was in the Sahara) and in the evening the table was set up (white linen, beautiful kitchenware, rich wines ....) and there came the main course .... Hmmm it tasted good and smelled even better.... the guests liked it... Alas one asked what it was: it was goat balls! (how do you say a male goat in english?) the poor chaps were unable to continue eating 🙁
I've dissected brains (human) in anatomy class; which is well renowned for making students hungry. But eating a real brain...Eeeww  There must have been interesting miming going on.
Alas one asked what it was: it was goat balls! (how do you say a male goat in english?) the poor chaps were unable to continue eating 🙁
I think Goat balls are a delicacy in Iceland (or it could be sheep testicles, I can't remember). I tried their rotten shark instead (and I still have the aftertaste 3yrs later).
I believe the Hoovers had rat-on-a-stick during the Laos tour.

Ah, maybe Kris had testicles rather than brains. Over here we have Rocky Mountain Oysters which are bull (cow) testicles. They probably have similar dishes in Taiwan.
I wonder if cooked testicles could possibly look like brains?

I actually think it's the sheep's eyes that are a delicacy, I remember seeing something on the discovery channel about them saving the eye for the tribe elder or something. Could also just be that they hate the tribe elder, or that he has to sacrifice himself for the tribe...
