brake noises

First, degrease rims and pads with meths or alternatively
just do a lot of hard braking down a steep hill. If still
squaling, double check the pad alignment and toe-in, also
make sure pads aren't upside down (is relevant and possible
with some types only). See the Park Tools website for
instructions. Some pads are noisier than others but
unfortunately the noisy ones somethimes are the most
effective.

Well, they certainly are effective!!

What is toeing in by the way - ive heard reference to that
before but dont actually know what it is!!!

Aligning so front of pad is nearer rim than back. It's

Easier said than done with some types of brakes, though.

I personally prefer to not toe-in as I like pads set very
close to rims (with road bike brakes).

should not be using the brakes.....holding you back man....🙂 .....learn to lean....😎

Lee, This is just what I want, I'm off to get a set of new
brake blocks. (only cars have pads?)
