Yeah, that's a strange one! When I was a kid we didn't blow up phone boxes - but who's to know what age group are doing this sort of thing.

It's illegal to do lots of things, but catching the wrong-doers is the hard bit.

IIRC the new regs are that fireworks cannot be let of after 11pm ... except on two occasions: 5/11 & 31/12.
So tonight there will be no more idiots letting them off at 2 in the morning.

I did wonder about including that particular shot. I tried cropping it but wasn't happy, I preferred the whole image, in spite of the lights. With a bit of work I could clone them out but I didn't want to spend too much time on it now, I just wanted to get them online quickly. I did clone out the odd stray streetlight in a few other shots.

(auto-focus doesn't work too well in the dark, and a 400mm lens is a swine to focus manually in the dark).
Let me rephrase that, a 400mm lens is virtually *impossible* to focus in the dark! Almost every photograph I took with it was out of focus, with the possible exception of one or two, which may have been *accidentally* in focus.

Oh b*gger. I was wondering when someone would remind me that I still haven't done any planning and it's gone 10pm on Sunday. I'm trying to find a hotel for my trip to Belfast in February .... so haven't got round to planning my trip to Wales (in 6 days!!)
Back to your question: Yes. We are. I was just about to look at what Paul and Bill have told me about where to go etc. Perhaps it's just easier if I chuck all my camping/walking gear in the back of the car and drive South next Saturday.
I think Friday 12th will be too much of a rush for me but I should be able to magically appear somewhere in Wales on Saturday.
