As long as you aren't running V-brakes, brifters are going to work with virtually any road brake.

Sachs Ergos are a good bet if you can find them. They should shift either 7 or 8 Shimano, and
probably Campy too. I never ran Campy, but I did run both Sachs FWs and Shimano cassettes
with my setup.

Suntour made a brifter, ?Command Shifters? but they weren't nearly as slick as the alternatives.

You may also be able to dig up some Shimano 7sp STI if you look hard enough. I did about a year ago,
but haven't looked since.

Shimano's Sora brifters are a great choice for 7-speed setups, and really the only option for
new stuff.

If you look on the used market for 8-speed Campagnolo stuff, that works fine with 7-speed too, just
use an Ergo compatible Campagnolo derailer.

Sachs used to market a special variant Ergo that worked with Shimano derailers 7 & 8 speed, but
these are pretty scarce.

The rumour is, and the figures appear to work out, that new Campag 9 speed ergos will shift 7 speed
sprockets with a Shimano rear mech. Has anybody actually tried it? And how can I tell if my round
ended ergos are new enough? Rod

For 2 years I ran 9-speed Veloce ergos in an otherwise all-Shimano XT 7-speed system, and was very
pleased with its performance. These were the old-style levers with pointed hoods.
