I believe Cannondale has a pretty generous frame trade-in policy. You might call them and ask 'em about it. For that matter, you prolly ought to call them, anyway, to see what they say about a fix.

With the frame trade-in program, you could end up with a CAAD9 frame or summat for a song.

I've never had a 'dale, but the company is well known for having top notch customer cervix.

My problem with the frame is that I am not the original owner, so I think I'm SOL

For the time being (or, semi-permanently), you should be able to secure the rear derailleur's cable housing by using a HOSE CLAMP.

Hose clamps come in more sizes than you might imagine ... if you can't envision what one looks like, then lift the hood of almost any automobile and look at the clamp that is securing the radiator hoses.

Worth repeating, THEY COME IN ALL SIZES.

There is definitely a size that is used to repair garden hoses which should be viable ... and, there are certainly smaller sizes.

A "card" of something like 20, assorted sized used to be available in the automotive section of Wally World for about $5.00 (possibly, less/more). They should be available at most hardware/"home" stores, too.

I would NOT smooth out the area from where the stop broke away ... use the rough surface to "grab" the cable housing ... OR, possibly, double-stick tape a small piece of emory cloth or sandpaper on the stay beneath where the clamp will secure the housing.

i would call the cannondale dealer and see what they can do for you. they'll probally ship it back to the factory for repairs.

I agree that you should call Cannondale anyway. I worked for a shop years ago that was a C'dale dealer. Back then the company gave very good customer service. Unless something has changed, they still should.

Short of that here are some options:

1. I second alfengs suggestion that you can rig something with a hose clamp. It might not be pretty, but should work.

2. In the old days, before braze-ons, steel frames used clamp-on cable stops. I doubt that one would fit the fat Cannondale chainstay straight off, but you may be able to modify one and attach with the aforementioned hose clamp. Branford bike carries the original Campagnolo ones for about $10.

3. Find a frame repair place that can pop-rivet a new on for you like on the Santana tandem featured in the following link.
