Yes... Rather good as well.

I did a loop from Stobo taking in Penvalla, Piked Stane and Trahenna
Hill. Mostly heathery, typical Southern Upland terrain. Lots of
steepish ups and downs.

There are several combinations of tops available on logical routes..
Most enjoyable day.

Can park on the A701 grid ref: NT 102 400. There's a grass verge across the
road from the farm track. Also there's a small car park in the woods, just
up the narrow track next to the verge, I think there's a forest trail there.

Not sure if thre's any other places to park around the area.

Have wandered up these hills on several occasions. As you approach
Broughton heading south there is an art gallery the you can park near
this. Once you are up on top of Broughton Height it can be quite boggy
after heavy rain - the peaty kind of bog - but that said, lovely
walking.

No, only visited a couple of Pentland Hills - Allermuir & Scald Law,
plus Tinto (last week(!))

Lovely walk although steep first part if you begin at Traquair. If you
do try this walk remember to feed the fairies at the Cheese Well -
don't know if it will bring you bad luck if you don't but I didn't take
the chance!
Another hill you may want to take a look at is Dundreich in the
Moorfoot Hills to the south of Penicuik. Nice in the snow as no
dangerous rocks or drops. Would recommend the Leadburn Inn after for
some good food and beer.

Weeks later...

We were up there on sunday.
Nice easy paths and grassy slopes (part of the John Buchan Way is followed).

Being more used to the 3000ft'rs I found it an easy walk where we
followed the excellent guide in the Scotsman.

The cloud was below the tops in places and the wind stong & cold.
Despite this though navigation is straightforward.

Be aware though that the sign pointing to an Art Gallery mentioned in
the article is no longer there. The best marker for the car park is to
look for a sharp left turn just before the 30 sign (if travelling from
the north).
