You'll normally have to put the pedals on and that's it.
Check everything tho' coz the brakes etc may need some
adjustment.

Don't worry, it will be fully or almost fully assembled.
Different suppliers do different things, with different
bikes as well. Handlebars may be rotated round and down,
wheel(s) may be off. Pedals and seatpost with saddle may be
off. All these things are a doddle to put back on, and you
would want to do some adjustment with bars and saddle
anyway. The bike will come with a basic manual - won't be
good but might be of some use.

Tip: All bearings (including headset), bolts, and quick
release skewers SHOULD be properly adjusted/tight, and brake
blocks and cables SHOULD be setup properly but that's not
always actually the case, unfortunately. Even worse, this
applies sometimes when buying from bike shops! Check the
bike thoroughly before riding.

Aside: Tyres will be virtually flat. Wheels would be better
protected if tyres were well pumped up. Tyres = free
packaging! Dealers please take note.

Hmm...unless the reasons are logistical rather than
financial I'd be inclined to not buy a bike online or mail
order if not confident I could set it up. And if you have to
take it to a decent bike shop to have it set up or adjusted
after a few rides then the logistical argument falls as does
the financial one when they present you with a bill for work
that should have been part of a free service had you
purchased from them.
