There is another choice.

Last time I climbed Cadair the main ascent was from 724138
to Mynydd Moel.

I've been up a rather messy line of weakness on the E. side
of Mynydd Moel, from near Llyn Arran - but not recommended.

A good circuit is the normal ascent from Minffordd (Dôl
Idris C.P.) and then follow the high level promenade E. from
the top over Mynydd Moel to point 683m. Follow a fence line
east from there and pick a way down over Mynydd Gwerngraig
to the summit of the road pass (A487) and pick up the old
bridleway 1km SW, which takes you back to Minffordd.

If you don't have time for the above, you can make a
southerly descent from Mynydd Moel, crossing the Nant Cadair
lower down to rejoin your ascent route: can be 'interesting'
after heavy rain.

If you have time, and two cars, you could do the complete
traverse. Start at the E. end - e.g. point 683m, reachable
from the layby at SH 753 135 and walk almost to the sea,
e.g. at Lwyngwril at SH 592 095, where you can walk straight
into the bar at the Garth Angharad pub. This is long but not
as strenuous as it looks on the map, and you get superb
views of the Mawddach estuary as you proceed west. Obviously
you could choose an alternative point to end your traverse.

No. It's a very steep walk. Are you looking at the
1:50,000 or the
1:25,000. On the latter it is clear that it is neither rock
nor scree. The 1:50,000 shows the gap in the cliff at the
top but indicates rock lower down.

The path to the gully finishes at 718 138

Read recently on another group that there is a pathway
blocked off: just found it, here is what was said:

blocked path at Grid Ref:SH707161 (Explorer OL23). The path
connects to the Foxes Path, and is opposite to Llyn Gwernan
and the Gwernan Lake Hotel. Not much of a pain if you are
going up, but if coming down after fighting through the
damage that the farmer has inflicted to be greeted by the
wire fence topped with Barbed wire. It may just pee you off.

That URL only exists to print the map. It's not possible to
link direct to particular GR in Get-a-Map. You have to give
people the GR to put in themselves.

So put SH730140 into
ordnancesurvey.co.ukgetamapOpen ↗ or look
it up on your copy.
