How about a river ride this weekend? Anyone keen? Tamyka, Absent Husband, Adam85 (although I have a feeling he might leave us for dead), Nebakke? JH? Anyone!
I was thinking of doing an early ride on Sunday, perhaps starting at the Goodwill Bridge and doing the river ride...

Who's up for it??
I've got a road race in the arvo out near dayboro but I could handle a warmup in the morning as long as it's easy. How wild was that storm last night??....It was a fast ride home from work with that bigass hailstorm behind me!
It's a bridge which was finished just prior to the Good Will Games which were held in Brisbane about 5 (???) years ago. It's a total eye sore and there was much controversy about budget blowout, whether it would be built in time for the games etc. It should have been called the Oh Sh!t Bridge.

It's a pedestrian/bike only bridge with a 15km/h (I think!) speed limit. It's a joke between 7am - 9am and 4pm - 6pm. I avoid it at all costs, and I'm glad I live in the Western Burbs now so I can avoid it all together.

P.S. I got tailgated by a stupid creature with a big Shazza perm through my suburb and over to my mechanic. When she pulled in to the servo next to my mechanic I went over and politely informed her that I desperately wished that her children wouldn't die, but that she DESPERATELY deserved it considering the way she treats others on the road.

I'm in Warwick for a 1/2 m, 4.6km xc, 5km rr, 10km hill ascent, 1500m crit run. Else I'd love to.

There was hail all over the place. We watched the storm from our office, turned out the lights to get a good view. Checked the BOM website but they were in denial, apparently. Saw a cyclist heading home through it and thought that was pretty f'ing stupid.

Actually it's 10kph. A joke, because most people run faster than that.
I saw the storm brewing from my bus on teh way home (current end-of-trip facilities at my work are out of action...). Could tell somewhere was gonna cop it - but was still shocked when I saw the aftermath on the news later.
Sorry Lotte - family commitments on Sunday. Plus I'll probably still be recovering from a night out at Paniyiri. If things go to plan, I'll wake up with a Mythos lager hangover, and honeypuff encrusted lips...
Absent Husband (who'll be tucking into the bbq'ed octopus as well...)

hailstorm behind me!
Oooh ya, I found myself on the top of the hill at Kenmore when it first hit around there I must say it went a lot faster getting to Jindalee than usual and going over the Bridge was a bit of an experience, I was certain I'd get blown over. It was rather nice though to see another cyclist on the bridge in front of me, always good to know that you're not completely on your own.. Saw the pictures from Toowong when I got home though apparently it started just after I passed through there. Bloody glad I didn't get caught in THAT, and no don't blame me ;O)

I have to spend some quality time with the family on Sunday and look after my young son while me wife's out so unfortunately I'll have to pass... You'd all pretty much leave me for dead anyway ;O) I'm working on it though...

Lotte,
Could you do a ride Sunday arvo?? I doesn't have to be the river ride, we could work out a ride through the Western Suburbs, I live on the north side of the river at Bellbowrie. Let me know your thoughts?

I love you're reactions to drivers Lotte, because you make my reactions sound conservative.

Sunday afternoon doesn't suit me all that well. Simon (my dog) has thrown down some pretty serious demands and wants me to take him to meet some [censored] and I'm not getting out of this one.

Oh dear. I'm starting to think that maybe I need to tone it down a little.
But in all seriousness, it makes me cranky. I was taking my old car (pink 92 Corolla) to get a safety certificate and here she is tail gating me... for some reason people ALWAYS do it when I'm in that car. It's like they think "C'mon grandma!". If anyone should be bullying, it should be ME bullying HER, the silly shazza permed old bat.
It's scary when you realise you're probably only 10 years younger than those you call "Old Bat".
