Recently on a walk I saw a perfectly rounded cairn shelter on Round Hill near Blubberhouses, between Harrogate and Skipton. Having just seen (yet again) Carry on Up the Jungle it instantly gave me a great photo opportunity. Set up the camera on delay timer and jump in the Cairn. Call it one for the pot. I'm wondering if any of you have hilarious stories to tell or even better, pictures to show of similar failures to get it right. I'm sure there must be some classics out there.

Hi Mike, I don't think I've got any examples, but I've certainly been out of breath a few times after sprinting to make it in time! Saying that though, I got my passport photo taken in an ASDA photo booth 6 years ago, and I was still reading the instructions when the camera went off, so I'm looking upwards in the photo, D'OH! :-)

Yup - I'm a slow runner. This one was taken in the North York Moors near Goathland last year. I set the camera up on my mini-tripod on some distant stones with the lens zoomed in on the stepping stones and my waiting girlfriend - pressed the button and made a dash for it at breakneck speed...

Not hilarious, but daft if not a bit embarrassing at the time.
I'd been taking a few timer delay shots down at the riverside when a pal came by. I took the camera off the tripod and offered to take his photo. he duly smiled at the camera and I pressed the shutter release only to find I still had it set to 10 sec delay. I'd been taking a few timer delay shots down at the riverside when a pal came by. I took the camera off the tripod and offered to take his photo. he duly smiled at the camera and I pressed the shutter release only to find I still had it set to 10 sec delay.
If that's the 300D then I've done that myself a number of times. I'd expect the self timer or multiple shot mode to be cancelled when I turn the camera off, but that doesn't happen. What I have discovered however is that pressing the mode button while the self timer is counting down will cancel the self timer.
