One of our club members recently bought a set of Boras. He uses them with his carbon frame Giant. Nice ride and really light. Too bad the rear wheel is emitting a ticking sound when riding. It doesn't matter if he's pedaling or coasting, standing or sitting it just ticks with every revolution of the wheel.(It doesn't tick when you're off the bike and spinning the wheel around using your hand.) I took the hub apart to inspect it and found nothing amiss. Plenty of grease, paws mechanism engaging properly... Put the hub back together and made sure the retainer lock-nut had the right tension. Put the cassette back on (12-25)and torqued it down to specs with the lock ring. Put the wheel back on the bike and gave it a test ride. Ticking still there. Tried using a Mavic cosmic carbone in back to make sure it wasn't the frame making noises. Nope not the frame definitely the rear wheel. It's a pretty regular tick, not intermittent. I told the owner to take the wheel back and have them fix it or get a replacement under warranty. Any ideas on what is causing the ticking?
As a side note, one of the bike shops in our area also took a look at it and didn't have a clue. He said to just keep riding it and maybe the sound will go away on it's own.

Tape the valve stem to the rim in a sort of "X" pattern. I have the same problem with my Bontrager carbons and it's my valve stem clicking with each rev. Sounds like just the same thing. Totally annoying, but completely fixable.
Hi FasTrack Had the same problem last week (I think, I've lost your original post), it was the valve extender tapping on the carbon rim. The valve hole diameter in the rim was just a bit too big for the extender which was rattling around in there and the carbon was amplifying it. Unscrew the extender, wrap some insulating tape around it, screw back in and you're on your way nice and quiet. Hope it works, Tom
