campy ultra chain - power link?

I have the Wipperman Connex Link on my Campy Ultra chain. (Don't tell
the other people here, but it was transferred from my previous chain to
this one. I'll probably get a new link with the next chain.)

It's done all the time.

You can use the pin that comes with the chain but a Wipperman link,
either the 6.2mm or 6.05mm link works fine.

I have a 12-25 and a 13-29 campy cassette... do you think I can swap
back and forth without changing the chain length?

I just put a compact set of chainrings on ( 50/34)

Probably. If a short cage rear der, ensure the length is correct for
13-29, long enough for big big combo but no longer and it'll be fine
for 12-25. Same applies for a medium cage.

Instead of sizing chain so that you can just wrap the big ring x big
cog combination, size it so that the chain doesn't drag on the bottom
of the rear derailleur pulley cage in the small/small. Nothing really
bad happens if it grazes the bottom anyway. With the new style Campy
rear derailleurs, unscrew the "b" tension adjustment so that is is out
almost to it's max.

Using the chain lenght determined as described and not changing
chainring size, you'll be able to use any cogset size within the
derailleur's range.

unfortunately I don't have a b tension on the campy record rear
derailleur.. maybe it is time for a new one.

very latest ders. Is this true?

No truth to that. I have 2006 Record and Chorus = same. My
2006 small parts book shows same part numbers as 2005 book
for all derailleur cage assemblies. Sleep well, worry not.

It is there but now is on the upper pulley bolt assembly rather than
ther bolt assembly where it attaches to the frame.
