I suppose that the growth of the 'compensation culture' means that people are much less likely
to accept responsibility for their own actions and much more likely to look for another party

I would hope that any claim would be mitigated by contributory negligence on her part.

FFS. Get up, leave the computer alone, go out and ride your bike somewhere. Your continual
regurgitation of news articles from the BBC is becoming tiresome to say the least.

Oh dear - have you got out of the wrong side of the bed today?

I suggest you remove the ostrich egg that you've got shoved up your ass,

    it may

Indeed, you don't like what I write - learn the joy of the kill-file.

Now - go finish masturbating in the corner.

    Cheers, helen s

Ah, there. Now we have it (Demon news server's been a bit [censored] of late).

    Let me see...

Not too bad. Accusing me of rising late, shoving ostrich eggs up my rectum and masturbating in the
    corner of a room.

All that from a simple request to stop monotonously reprinting articles from news web sites with the
    same basic message, ad nauseum.

Go on, show us, what can you do for an encore?

I personally cycle for fun, the challenge and the fitness I can derive from it. I read Usenet ngs
for light relief and a diversion, plus a little education as and when. It occurs to me that there is
a limit to the amount of 'road safety, siege mentality' posts which can be found to be interesting.
Lighten up a bit FFS. Go on, post something about cycling, you know you want to.

Ob. Cycling: I rode down to Cheltenham last Saturday (60 miles due South) to work on our race teams
motorbike over the weekend. I'm the teams 'sparky' as well as one of the riders. It took me 3 hours
and 19 seconds (I reckon it was that last set of traffic lights which took me over my target time
;>😉. I rode back on the Sunday afternoon, 60 miles straight North into the teeth of a bloody gale.
Hungover, underfed and overloaded. I was going just fine till I got about 6 miles South of
Kidderminster when the 'fuel tanks' started to read empty. I've only ever experienced 'bonking' this
bad once before when I did the Polaris back in 1995. I crept onto the next petrol station and ate
choclate bars and drank coke and waited... Sure enough twenty minutes later I could feel a bit of
energy returning to my legs and was able to continue and finish the remaining 20 miles or so home.
Still, cheapest fuel stop I've made for a while.

    <plonk>

Ignore him Helen. I appreciate the many cycling related news articles that you bring to our
attention. Including the ones that are only peripherally related to cycling, like the one that
    started this thread.

(Yes Alex, Cl*rks*on's motorised vandalism is, in a small way, related to cycling. It represents the
culture in this country where many people believe that anything is OK as long as it's done in a car,
which affects anyone who cycles on the road).

    Otherwise, tough-titties, sweetheart.

Hmmm, I don't think 'netcop' means what you think it does. Either that or you have misread the
intent in my posts. I have little or no knowledge of you (other than that which you have posted to
this ng). It would be difficult for me to determine my like for you or otherwise. I have at no point
suggested that you (or anyone for that matter) should not post to usenet. Nor at any point suggested
that I should by reason of some spurious logic be in a position to decide who should.

I did suggest that possibly you'd like to consider posting less 'repeat' material of such a dull and
useless nature. But this after all an open forum and my opinions (being worth more or less exactly
what you paid for them) are equally as valid as yours. As you say, 'tough titties' (for me), I
didn't really expect you to change the record. However feedback is good yes? Consider my original
post more as feedback rather than dictat.

and on what subject. Possibly it's the only thing big about you.

Not sure what to make of this bit, since your basic premise is a bit flawed.

Ob. Cycling: Does anyone know how to tighten Campag record Ergo levers to bars? My right one seems a
bit loose and moves a bit when pulling hard on it. I had a look under the cover and found the hex
bolt that I presume tightens the levers, however there appears to be a small grub screw in the
middle of the bolt which I have no idea of the purpose of. I don't want to tighten the hex bolt and
the find I've fubared something else. Any clues gratefully accepted.

Simple request? Perhaps. Totally out of the blue, obnoxiously worded, giving people the impression
that you thoroughly deserve the response that you got from Helen? Definitely!

As has been suggested, learn how to use kill files. I know how, you're now in mine.

I should have added that you should stick her in your killfile. I did and my enjoyment has
increased enormously, mostly because I don't have to wade throught the [censored] she writes.

You know, purely as a matter of ettiquette, I think it may be a little unrefined - even vulgar -
to discuss the contents of one's killfile in public.

Maybe, but it's considerably more tasteful than a lot of the abuse Helen has been throwing out
recently. I don't mind being rude to her because she's extremely rude to anyone who dares to differ
with her opinion on any matter.

Incidentally, I've been using 40tude Dialog as a newsreader for some time now and apart from a
killfile it provides the capability to rank different contributors so that the threads they're
active in come at the top of the list. I've considered posting my ranking list but don't think
anyone else would be interested. Mind you, if a lot of people used this newsreader we could set up a
    league system!

I find most of Helen's references to external news valuable. It's useful to have someone who's
willing to sift through it and draw our attention to items that may be of concern or interest
    to cyclists.

When there's so many of them it takes a lot longer than 5 seconds.

And has been said before (so I don't know why I'm saying it), you can ignore the rest. What is
unnecessary is the animosity it seems to be causing from both camps. Itin with the general
