My commiserations! I think I have managed it on Al foil,
wax-paper and plastic foil boxes. The last is the worst; it's
usually a devil of a business finding the start of the roll. I
wonder why the start point can not be marked?

Yep, makes sense! If the plastic wrap is really clingy stuff it clings to
itself. If it doesn't stay outside the cutting edge it will often wind up
stuck back on the roll. Finding the start point and getting it started
again is a royal PITA!

The brand I prefer, Glad I think, is definitely not marked but,
once you've started, there is a sticky patch on the box to hold
the edge.

tired of fighting with rolls of cling wrap 😉

I once had this inflatable toy shark, it was about 18 inches long. Real
cute, very accurate reproduction. And printed next to the inflation valve
"Not meant to be used as a life preserving floatation device."

So I saw this picture of me rescuing some swimmer in distress, "hold on
dude, help's on the way. I'm throwing you the shark."

This is where Band-Aid brand liquid bandage (not the 24-hour skin crack
kind, and not a generic -- I've never yet found a generic near its quality)
comes in extremely handy. It's pricey, about seven dollars for a box of 10
small applications (versus a couple of bucks for a box of about fifty
bandages). But in the case of most small kitchen cuts, when this stuff is
used it immediately becomes possible (and sanitary) to handle food again.

My mother was scoping out my sewing equipment and picked up a pair of
razor-edged shears that I use for cutting leather. "Be careful", I
said, "they're wicked sharp."

30 seconds later Mom's got her finger in her mouth and I'm looking for
the wound glue (Bandaid liquid bandage). It's just about the only
option for superficial slices through calloused skin - finger tips,
palms, the soles of the feet.
