Could you not offer them your *own* "consultancy services" for a fee?

No, I've annoyed far too many upper management people during my cycle light
dispute.

Sheffield stands or bike lockers. Make sure the Sheffield stands are
plastic-coated; my employer skimped and got the plain galvanised ones so
they scratch any frame laid against them.

Are you sure plastic-coated costs more? I could not find any comparable
prices with a swift google. I'd be willing to bet galvanised is more
durable anyway. Once there's any damage through the plastic coating the
moisture that gets under and is retained there is an excellent source
of corrosion.

Ob stands.. I was intrigued today to discover that the Uni comissions it's
own stands and lockers for bikes. I was chatting to one of the people at the
Estates department whilst reviewing the new development plan exhibition and
mentioned that we (the BUG) thought that the stands were too close together.
"I'd made them wide enough to be able to fit a modern mountain bike in with
a bit of extra space". We then pointed out that you could lock one bike each
side of each hoop and would then a) fit more bikes in and b) cost less so
he was impressed. Architects were busy taking notes as we prattled about
access, locating stands near entrances, design stands to match architecture
etc. Generally productive stuff froma talking shop point of view.

They also custom built bike lockers having decided that all the commercial
offerings were too flimsy. The main Estates guy would love to have the whole
main campus pedestrianised, even though they drive in (in the winter, MC in
the summer as he lives 22 miles away.) Lots of talk of good provision in the
new build with all new buildings having showers and appropriate cycling
facilities. They are trying to do the right thing..
