Any hints about preventing chaffing of inner thighs? It
seems to be happening after every run I do...around half
way in the middle, I can feel the pain
starting...ouch...does it sting in the shower afterward! I
usually put some Neosporin on it after the shower. One
night, I needed to take some Advil because of the pain! Is
it time for spandex under the shorts?

to stay on without dissolving from the sweat.Phil M.

This will be due to one of two things: (1) your running
shorts/tights have a seam or other area that's rubbing you;
or, more likely, (2) your thighs are not yet slim enough to
be fully separated at all times during your stride, and are
rubbing against each other. The answer to (1) would be to change your shorts or trim off
the offending seam, etc.The answer to (2) is to apply a spot of Vaseline between
your thighs where the friction is before you run, or for
running sophisticates, something like Bodyglide. For most
folks, (2) is the correct remedy. -

Lycra shorts and vaseline.
Does lycra include umbros?
-
Form fitting lycra running shorts have always done the
trick for me. The lycra rubbing on lycra saves you from
inner thigh rubbing on inner thigh. I've never had to use
a lubricant in combination with lycra, but some people
may need it.Good luck.

1. You know when you're at close to ideal weight when
this never happens. In my case, If I'm 152 or less, it
never happens.2. I use vaseline if I'm tubby or running longer than 3
hours (just in case!)An ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure in this
delicate matter...--Dan

I am now running longer than I ever had before (1 hr/7
miles), but at the same time, trying to lose a little extra
weight (mostly in the stomach). I am by no means overweight,
and my legs are my best feature (in my opinion). Some days,
the legs feel ok after running....but today, the gym was
very HUMID, and I was sweating so much....it is still
hurting hours later....just took some ibuprofen and rubbed
some more Neosporin on the redness!"Dan Stumpus" <[email hidden]> wrote in message

stick figure. They are muscular...I think if they got any
smaller, I would be bird-legged. -

Make sure your running clothes have no seams between the
thighs. I observe many people running in basketball shorts
which have these nasty seams. Real running or soccer shorts
(there are knee-length ones for the modest) are specially
sewn. They also are made of quick drying synthetics which
prevents waterlogged skin. Also these shorts have properly
design support liners. Jockstraps or regular underwear have
nasty seams also. -

Hmm, at one time I got down to a svelte 165 which I
considered ideal, I still rubbed. I'm just a hunk of muscle

I also use Vaseline but there are other very useful products
like Body Glide that people rave about. I also grease up my
toes/feet for long races.-Doug
