Was in Bookworld today and spotted two nice books about Scotland which will keep me interested for some time (hopefully years) to come.
Scotlands 100 Best Walks and The Munros: Scotlands Highest Mountains both by Cameron McNeish and reduced to £10 from £25 each. Each walk or Munro features a simple physical map, an easy to follow route description and a picture of the area.
Now I can follow people's trip reports about Scotland without too much puzzlement and struggling to find strangely named mountains on maps!

Those books have been £10 for years to my knowledge!

I got them both. Good reads. If you plan to do some walks remember to add some time to Camerons ETA. I always find him a bit /optimistic/.

I really like the Best Walks book - managed to pick it up for £10 just after Christmas. It's not really about routes. The writing really connects you to the land and its history. Well worth a tenner.

So what? Ever heard of naithsmiths' rule! IIRK Cameron did not proffess to have done all his routes described.
That applies to quite a few writers of walking books in FACT!!!!!!

That was an unproven allegation put about by people with a grudge against Cameron.

I agree especially as a closer read shows that many routes include a pronunciation guide and/or translation of the Gaelic place names. Personally I ignore suggested walking times as I find them to be misleading or set by gazelles!
Looking inside the covers shows they've both been reprinted nearly every year since first published which explains why they seem to have always been in the shops. As for pricing, I note that both my books have minor printing flaws on some pictures which I'm not too worried about.

These books are everywhere... and I've never seen them selling at anything but ten quid! The Munros one is well worth having and a nice companion to the SMC "The Munros" book. The "100 Best Walks" is less interesting, mainly because there's a lot of overlap; if you're looking for a book of low-level bad weather walks, look elsewhere.
