  1. Here is a site that asks what things you have in your fridge and
pantry and then shows you a list of recipes requiring only those
    ingredients. Some interesting stuff:

This was kind of interesting Mark. Thanks for the link. I
    got 20 pages of recipes.

Thanks, Mark! Wish I could expand the site to include a
breakdown of "vegetables" beyond the listed potatoes, onion.
I have carrots, celery and the like. The search suggested
recipes with things like aubergines (eggplant) which I don't
have in my fridge. The term "vegetables" is so generic.
    Still, it was interesting 🙂

But . . . but . . . if we have things in our fridge and our
pantry, presumably we put them there and had some pretty
specific ideas for what to do with them when we did so.

    Bah! ...humbug!

I just knew they wouldn't have a recipe for beer and capers.

great concept, but a pathetic execution of it.

Maybe we could write the webmaster and make those
    suggestions??

Glad you guys/gals liked the site. I thought it was fun.

Well....? Maybe some of the yuppers, yuppies, preppies..
(!) like to have impromptu mock game shows in their friends
kitchens... wasn't there a show named something like
"Ready, set, cook"? Where a couple of known chefs and a
couple of people from the audience walk onto the stage
kitchen and are given a counter full of various foods and
are told to go prepare a 3 or 4 course meal within a
    specific amount of time?

Doing that would definitely give a new meaning of 'dinner
    party'. LOL

The best they could do with the contents of my fridge was
    "apple by itself."

Not us, usually. This last week, yeah, we got cheap pre-
sliced beef to test drive the shwarma and bag-o-parsley to
work out the taboulli (_mostly_ work out the taboulli, we
    left out the bulgur).

Fresh fish you gotta cook _now_, so you don't buy it until
you know what you're going to do with it. Everything else
you just need to figure out how to use up before it gets
old. It's LOTS easier to figure out how we want to prepare
stuff when we're poring over cookbooks with a beverage of
choice, than alone in the grocery store entirely without
    references.

Just think of it as a wider array of "staples", which
contributes to our unwillingness to plan.
