LOL, I nearly bought some CF handlebar end-plugs once without thinking.

They would have been my first CF possession. But I'm glad I didn't. You
don't want to be around a handlebar end-plug when it delaminates and
blows up in your face...

Those electronic scales are of course really meant for people whose
hobby is trading small quantities of pharmaceutical products.

Pennyweights are commonly used by jewelers and precious metal
traders-- a category of users, other than the drug merchants Ben
mentions, with a good use for a portable, accurate scale.

An errand forced me to go past Harbor Freight, so I surrendered to the
inevitable and . . .

Four black Presta valve caps weigh a trim 1.2 grams:

Four green Presta valve caps for Slime tubes weigh a whopping 1.3
grams:

But the green caps make it much easier to fix flats, so I'm going to
keep using them. Besides, the 0.1 gram difference might be due to
grime on the caps or where they're sitting on the scale.

But I still have my pride--I haven't weighed any spoke nipples.

Dear Ryan,

This evening, I tested it 1,400 feet higher in Beulah, and it showed
that 8 dead wasps, slain with my own hand but not field-dressed,
weighed 0.8 grams, so it's accurate to 0.1 grams per paper wasp.

I imagine it would cost more to calibrate the balance (not scale) that
the retail price.
