If anyone has been following the recent news that cinnamon has been found to lower blood sugar
levels and knows anything about the study then i have a question. they keep talking about cinnamon,
but mention all the foods that people put 'cinnamon' into. 90% of the substance known as 'cinnamon'
is, in fact, cassus bark, not the bark of the 'cinnamon' tree and while somewhat related, it is not
the same thing. does anyone know if the study was conducted on 'cinnamon' or if it was conducted on
the substance they name in all the foods (apple pie, etc) which is actually cassus bark? i'm not
about to go out and buy 10 kilos of cinnamon, but i'm curious about the distinction since it is a
pretty significant difference.

I read a similar article in New Scientist - tried to send you the link but couldn't drag and copy -
anyway, it sure sounded to me like they were discussing the spice we know as cinammon that is sold
here in all the grocery stores - not some other spice. If you find out more let me know. If you want
me to copy the article and post it I will try - but it's pretty much the same that was in the

experiments was the compound that gives it "the cinnamon taste". This
is a water-soluble polyphenol compound called MHCP. This is probably
the compound found in "cassus bark" if it has the cinnamon taste.Elmer

Everyone appreciates all your increasingly vague input, and if you end up on thorazine and confined
to the psych ward, remember that many here thought you were very helpful. For now, you might try to
avert that by just using the conventional sort of humility and responses that are within your depth
that almost all other human beings who post to this group use and most all respond kindly to. If you
don't know the specifics of the subject you're talking about sometimes, just answer if you think you
can be helpful without all the extraneous BS. You could save all that up for some sort of local or
national rally. This way, you might be able to work your way out of a developing disorder, which
*everyone* would be happy to see. -
