Get one which accepts non-threaded cartridges, gun shops
sell these cartridges for air pistols, about £5-6 for 10 I
think (probably less if you shop around on t'net).

I got an Innovations pump which accepts the non-threaded

Mike Dyason does 12gm and 16gm cartridges at 5 for £5 which
I suspect are the same!

GBP5 a pair is what my LBS does em for. Watch out for the
air gun kind, they frequently contain a small amount of oil
to keep the mechanism smooth.

on Presta: after three attempts by which time the CO2
cylinder was empty, my trusty Zéfal XPX did the business ;-)

A components manufacturer whose products turn up
occasionally. I've used their V-brake pads which are
excellent VFM, a mate used their cartridge bearing jockey
wheels which seized up no quicker than the similar Tacx ones

it. I particularly wanted a threaded version because this
keeps them super tiny.

I use a CO2 pump for racing. Small, compact and quick when
replacing a tub in a time trial.

I wouldn't use one routinely, you would look like a flat if
you ran out of CO2 cylinders! At least a Zefal HPX doesn't
run out of gas.

My experience of using CO2 catridge pumps is not too good.
They need to be used regularly or as I found to my cost
during the winter on a dark road (yes it was raining too),
that the o-ring that the cartridge seals onto in the head
unit will perish and not seal as it has been lying around in
the saddle-bag all year ! Maybe it's just my luck in not
getting punctures too often.

desperate...
