I started riding on a cannondale MTB with a coda seat. That seat was brutal. I couldn't sit at all afterwards. I had to wear my bike shorts under my clothes to work to sit.

Now i ride the seat that came with my Bianchi. It's like heaven.

A lot of scientific study has been done on the subject of saddle comfort and anatomically correct design.

There is a good overview of some of that research on the SelleSMP website.

The resulting saddle range, the Selle SMP Strike is available in a selection of weights, materials and styles

Cheers

A stock Coda seat usually consists of cheap foam padding with a vinyl cover so you are essentially riding on plastic. A good quality leather seat has thinner but dense padding and will conform to your body over time making for a more comfortable ride. Expect pay anywhere from 80 to almost 200 bucks for such saddles, but the expense is worth it if you plan to do a lot of riding.
