I've been riding on a set of Crankbrothers eggbeater pedals for the past 2 years or so. These are their bottom of the line pedal. The other day while just riding along one of the pedals broke at the spindle about an inch from where it protrudes from the crank arm. It just snapped off. A very strange feeling as the pedal stayed clipped to my shoe. Luckily I wasn't hurt and was able to limp back to the car using what was left of the spindle. I emailed a picture of the parts to Crankbrothers this morning asking them to replace the pedal. 2 hours later I got a phone call from their customer service rep. He offered to rebuild my pedals at no cost or to replace them with an new set of an upgraded pedal for $25.00. Either way I would get a new spindle design. No questions asked about how I broke them, when or where I bought them. I thought this was fair so I opted for the upgrade. When I thanked him for responding so quickly, He said they tried to keep their customers happy.

I've had similar experience with WTB, Smith Optics, and ODI grips (they even sent me some free stickers). That is the way customer service should be!
I was just looking at new pedals and this made my decision easy. i have no probs in giving my money to someone that will replace a component after 2 years. thanks

I had a set of eggbeaters that did the same thing. I think the originals have a tendency to it if the bearings are not well maintained. I never contacted CrankBros though. CrankBros does do cool stuff for clubs also....good product discounts through the LBS.

I've had similar experience with WTB,
Very similar with WTB for me. They swapped a pair of maybe 2 year old Stealth pedals for new ones that fixed an unexpected release problem of the old ones. I was impressed by the customer service.
Recently put a WTB headset on my road bike. Similar to the Chris King on my MTB (sealed cartridge bearing, really easy to adjust: no delicate balance between no-wobble and too-tight), except much less expensive. No idea if it will last as long as the King, but I'm really happy so far, and I'm sure WTB will stand behind it.
