Whenever I put a moderate amount of pressure on the pedals while cycling, a creaking sound from the
bottom bracket area is heard. Initially, I thought it was a loose chain ring bolt - so I took the
chain ring apart and re-greased all the bolts and nuts and the creaking is still heard. I originally
had a dura ace bb, however, I did not like how the bb shell filled with water during each rain ride.
So, I removed the dura ace bb, cleaned the threads inside the bb shell and installed a new ultegra
bb. The creaking is still heard. What am I missing? If there was some grit left over in the threads
- could that be causing the creaking? Is there special grease for titanium frames to stop the
creaking? Could I not have the bb on tight enough? or too tight?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated - thanks
