Creaking Campy BB

My LBS uses teflon tape to help secure bottom brackets. Have you tried that?

I think that you need a new bb.
I had the same problem with my CHORUS bb and after awhile it just stopped turning all together.
When I took it out it was just a mess of metal shavings and bearings everywhere.
CAMPAGNOLO bb systems are not so well known (in my experience) to last so long...

A great alternative for Campy users is the Phil Wood bottom prackets made in the USA -- five year warranty, I think. Steel, ti, and oversize ti spindle versions, rings aloww you to adjust chain line plus or minus 5 mm on most frames, great bearings that are really sealed.

Your LBS should have performed a more thorough check and procedure instead of just torqueing. How long has it been since you got the BB serviced?

Phil Woods are a little pricey although the company vouch for them to last at least 22,000 kms. Another alternative but cost a little less than Phil Woods is an FSA with Campy spline and taper. But its a 103mm and not the 102 campy spec. but it does work.

These BB creaks can just as easily be the result of the frame/BB-shell quirk, in which case it's often merely a pain in the rear noise. In fact, I know I've read that the phenomenon tends to be a touch more common with Ti frames than with others -- even with high-end, otherwise superb bikes. It may just be an annoyance, the kind of thing that teflon tape and a little luck can cure.

Or it could be the BB innards after all -- how long you've been using the thing, or the time since its last checkup, could be a clue. Might be worth a look.
